Creo and Mathcad Prime 3.0 integration- benefits whole organisation

Posted by Mari Saona on 21-Nov-2013 14:58:00

You may have been wondering how 3D CAD software Creo works with engineering calculations software Mathcad Prime 3.0. John Sheehan spoke on his blog earlier this year about how the two work together. In fact, he made it known to his readers that the integration between the two products has existed since 2006. To what extent are they integrated? Well, dimensions and parameters can be sent from Creo to Mathcad where it can be run through complex (or simple) calculations – the results of which can be returned to Creo and tied back to the dimensions and parameters.

Years ago, when parametric technology and features first came about, it’s not an exaggeration to say that it revolutionised the CAD industry. This technology really changed the way that engineering organisations not only developed 3D models, it also changed the way that they made amends to the drawings as well. Even recently, research has shown the benefits of building intelligence into models and modular approaches that really provide a lot of power and help automate a lot of the engineering process.
